Narrator Lisa Larsen serves up a cozy autumn romance set in Autumnboro, New Hampshire. Single horror-story writer Amy Fox is returning to her hometown to care for her grandpa after he crashes into a donut store. When her car breaks down en route, the tow truck driver turns out to be her high school beau, Kit, whose flannel-covered form still catches her eye. Larsen's softly rounded tones match Labonte's gentle humor and wrap listeners in a pumpkin-scented haze. Amy and Kit are clearly distinguishable in dialogue, while Grandpa sports a jovial voice. Larsen faithfully represents the quirky locals, who recognize themselves in Amy's stories and have choice words for her literary license. Listeners may also recognize the heartwarming story as the basis of a recent Hallmark movie.

Narrator Lisa Larsen captures the wonder of five strangers in New York City who receive mysterious invitations to the Fifth Avenue Story Society, held in an upscale library. Coral's elegant diction masks a painful broken engagement. Lexa's bold tones reflect her corporate ambitions. Ed is both a courtly retiree and a grieving widower. Chuck sports a noticeable New York accent and casual speaking style even as he rages over his custody battle. And Jett, about to publish his dissertation, sounds adrift as he questions his divorce from Lexa. Larsen switches seamlessly among characters with a calm, thoughtful narration. Christian themes emerge as each character's past unfolds. Overall, Larsen matches Hauck's charming conceit with a poised delivery. /Audiofile Magazine

Narrators Rob Shapiro and Lisa Larsen superbly introduce this First State mystery, which takes place in Delaware. Listeners meet kleptomaniac/Episcopalian minister Candice Miller and grieving widower/journalist Brian Wilder at the murder scene of a shady real estate tycoon. Shapiro and Larsen's renderings of Miller and Wilder, including their contrasting perspectives, are appealing and relatable. Equally captivating is Detective Mike Flanagan, who wisely (or unwisely) allows the pair into the crime scene, which reveals loaves of bread left on each body, an act that is reminiscent of a Victorian-era tradition in which "sin eaters" consume bread to absolve the deceased's sins. The audio format keeps listeners engrossed with the diverse and agreeable characters, plausible suspects, amusing banter, and lively local color. /Audiofile Magazine

Lisa Larsen's sturdy narration engages listeners from its opening line: "It was the best of times until it was the worst of times." In Brennan's fantasy send-up of A TALE OF TWO CITIES, Lucie Manette tells the story of Light New York and Dark New York, the one shining with the opulence of light magic and the other a place where people are "buried" in penury and fear. Larsen's aggressive delivery suits the ugliness of the political corruption and revenge that are at the heart of Brennan's tale before redemption takes place. Those familiar with Dickens's classic will admire what Brennan borrows from the original, but this love story with its magical world-building can be appreciated by anyone. /Audiofile Magazine

Haunting music casts a spell as narrator Lisa Larsen introduces Abigail and Tomasso's story. Both Argeneau fans and first-time listeners will be eager to hear about immortal Tomasso, a hunky vampire, and sweet Abigail. Abigail is presented as extremely likable and charming as she tries to understand her strong attraction to Tomasso. From their first kiss, Abigail unknowingly draws herself into his world. Larsen's phrasing radiates Tomasso's sizzling sexiness as well as his joy that he has found his lifemate. His alluring Italian accent and Abigail's intense responses will evoke thrills as they interact. The story is a seamless balance of passionate romance and high adventure in Larsen's capable hands. The couple's encounters in this erotic story will make listeners breathlessly await the next book in the series. /Audiofile Magazine

ABOUT

BOHM1562 online.jpg

After earning a degree in musical theater...

and spending several years hustling on the business side of the film industry, I have found my way back to my first love: performing.

I narrate from my home studio in the foothills of Los Angeles, and as soon as the kids are off to school, I am in my cozy booth absorbed in bringing the words and worlds of authors to life.

When I’m not embodying the characters of strong heroines, feisty teenagers, cranky old men, or alluring vampires, I’m devoting time to my daughters, mucking up my kitchen baking healthy treats, riding my bike, or enjoying a DIY project with my husband.
